Located in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania is the Beth Sholom Synagogue. It is best known for being the only religious building of its sort to be ever designed by the well known architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Beth Sholom is the Hebrew for the term, “House of Peace”.
The most notable thing about the Beth Sholom Synagogue is its modern take of a temple’s design. With its translucent and modernist elements, it is a true great example of an architectural ingenuity, giving the public Wright’s take of the ancient temple in the modern times.
The Beth Sholom Synagogue was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2007. The building was completed in 1959 and became the home of an already existing congregation since 1919.
