The Horseshoe curve is an example of an engineering marvel after the completion of its construction in 1854. The Horseshoe curve is one of the most fascinating rides in comparison to any railroad tracks around the world. It is said that the Pennsylvania Railroad workers faced a very difficult challenge in completing this railroad curve. Throughout the years after its completion, the park was continuously renovated to make a more beautified view for its public use.

Later on many other facilities were added to the park to welcome visitors. Just like the visitor center, a museum, as well as a funicular which can carry passengers who are not up for the trek to the railroads. The park is currently being managed and owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway. It was granted National Historic Landmark status in 1966.
