The borough of Lititz is well known for having a very long celebration of Independence Day. Their festivities normally include not just a parade and some local fair that happens on the 4th of July itself, but one of the main highlights is the Queen of Candles Pageant.
The title hailed from the longstanding tradition wherein of thousands of candles is lit during the celebration. It was in commemoration of the very first candle illumination that started all the celebrations around the 4th of July. These candles are always in fancy formations, making the whole event such a spectacle and delight to see.
The Queen of Candles Pageant was started in 1942 and always has 12 girls from the Warwick High School Senior Class that are selected by their peers participating in the occasion.
