Established in 1909, Reighard?s Gas Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania is believed the oldest gasoline station in the United States that still continues to provide service to the public. The whole site is actually very historical, one major cause why it has already been featured by the American Heritage magazine and Journal of Commercial Archeology.

History says that Reighard?s Gas Station has been in operation even before 1909. It was initially owned in the 1800s by George Hinkle, who was a blacksmith and sold kerosene and gasoline. The site was later sold to Samuel Reighard, who was Hinkle?s original supplier of his gasoline products.

The Reighard?s Gas Station is now owned by the Martin Oil Company. The office and garage on the site are original 1900s buildings, made of cinder blocks with hardened concrete shingle roofing.
