Located in the heart of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the Shriver House Museum will not tell you about how the Battle of Gettysburg went, or how the military coped with the experience. It focuses mainly on the civilian life during those stressful times.

The Shriver House Museum got its name after the historic home it was set up in. The former residence of the Shriver family, it was built in 1860, a few years before the Civil War started. It has been a hospital and a Confederate sharpshooter?s nest.

The Shriver House Museum now features tours guided by docents in period attires. Visitors can also view the rooms restored as to how they were like when the Shrivers were still residing in the home.
