The State of Museum is one of the famous landmark and historical sites with Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Its history dates back in 1905. During that time, Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker penned a legislation that seeks to open a museum to preserve the history and culture of the State. The collections were stored at the Executive Office Building of Pennsylvania until it was moved to its present building in 1964. The museum is managed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania is often called the William Penn Memorial Museum by the public. A large statue of Penn was erected years back that commemorates his contributions to the museum. Currently, the museum showcases the old artifacts, paintings, decorative arts, and military memorabilia, industrial and technological advancements that speak the heritage of Pennsylvania State.
