Located in the municipality of Cabo Rojo, the Los Morrillos Light is a popular lighthouse in Puerto Rico. It was built in 1882 on the southwestern tip of the country. It was constructed over a lime cliff that falls 200 feet into the treacherous waters.
The notable thing about the Los Morrillos light is its architecture. The design was very simple and minimal. There was only unelaborated cornice that functions as patterns all throughout the building.
Back in the days, two keepers were hired to man the lighthouse. However, with the automation of the area back in 1967, there was no need to hire help. It is currently abandoned, although, some locals are pushing to make the keeper?s house a museum.
