Brown University is a well known educational institution. Located in Providence, Rhode Islands, this outstanding university is known for its many achievements, including being the 7th*oldest institution in the United States and an Ivy League member. It was among the earliest schools ever established even before America was born.

Established in 1764 in Warren, Rhode Island by a Baptist clergy, Brown University was originally known as Rhode Island College. It first accepted students in 1765, a year later after its foundation. The university held its first commencement ceremony in 1769, under the leadership of its first president, James Manning. The school was later relocated to Providence, Rhode Island where you will find it standing today. Part of the history of Brown University was when it was transformed into a barracks and a hospital by the American troops during the American Revolution that transpired in 1775. A few decades later, the name of the school was changed to Brown University to honor Nicholas Brown, a loyal patron of the school.
