Walking along the streets of Providence, Rhode Island is like a trip back in time. Providence?s districts contain a staggering collection of historic buildings and other landmarks ? all standing untouched, remarkably preserved as if time have stood still in this place on earth.

One of these well-preserved ?memory lanes? is the College Hill Historic District. Located at the East Side of Providence, the site marks the original place of settlements way back in 1636! The original streets ? which still bore their names ? are like outdoor architectural exhibits. Several Victorian and American Colonial houses still stand along these streets.

What gave College Hill its name is the series of academic institutions constructed atop the hill. These buildings are Brown University, Wheeler School, Rhode Island School, and Moses Brown School. College Hill is no wonder a popular tourist destination. It was added to the National Historic Landmark District in 1970.
