The General James Mitchell Varnum House is one of the colonial buildings in East Greenwich, Rhode Island that is still in existence today. General Varnum is an American Revolution General in the Continental Army, former justice, and a Continental Congress representative. The house was built in 1773, before he got into duty and while he was still a young lawyer.

General Varnum was a great force in the area during his lifetime. This is why it is just fit to open his old house for tours today. Here, the history of the area is discussed, as well as the great, albeit short, life of the great man.
The General James Mitchell Varnum House is a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
