Howard Phillips Lovecraft is a popular writer and novelist born in Providence, Rhode Island. He is well known for his distinguished works, mostly on the weird side of literature. Despite his talent and obvious skill in word painting, H.P. Lovecraft died poor. In fact, the main causes of his demise included intestinal cancer, malnutrition, and Bright?s disease.

H.P. Lovecraft?s grave is basically the original resting place where he was interned upon his death in 1937. However, since he didn?t have his own tombstone and was only listed in the Phillips family?s monument, fans have driven a fundraising campaign to provide him his own headstone. This was successfully done in 1977.

Today, H.P. Lovecraft?s grave is still an attraction in Providence, Rhode Island. Fans even gather in the cemetery twice yearly, for his birthday and death anniversary.
