Standing high and mighty on top of the Windmill Hill in Jamestown, Rhode Island is the historic Jamestown Windmill. It has been built in 1787 and was operated until 1896.
The Jamestown Windmill has three stories. It was built using hand-hewn chestnut timbers, with a beautiful and classic shingled exterior. It is now under the care of the Jamestown Historical Society who maintains the site to keep it in working condition.
If you’re looking into visiting this National Historic registry site, you can come on any weekend from July to September, when it is opened from 10 am to 4 pm for the season. They also hold the Windmill Day when visitors can see and watch the windmill in action.
