Rather on the more modest side compared to the other properties in Bellevue Avenue, Newport, Rhode Island, the John N. A. Griswold House is a historic house that is associated to the historic district of Bellevue Avenue and is also notable for its construction. The house was built from 1862 to 1864 for the Old China Trade merchant, John Griswold.

The John N. A. Griswold House is popular for being one of the earliest examples of the American Stick style. It was designed by Richard Morris Hunt, making this structure one of the first designs that the gifted architect ever made.

The John N. A. Griswold House is also known as the Newport Art Museum and Art Association. It is an official project of Save America?s Treasure and a National Historic Landmark.
