The Museum of Yachting promotes the preservation of yachting traditions and its heritage. With a 10,000 square foot yacht collection, it highlights the significance of yachting through its artifacts and exhibits that depict the sport and its origins.

It also hosts presentations of informative exhibits as well as educational programming to celebrate the yachting tradition. In 2007, it converged with the International Yacht Restoration School. With a magnificent view of the Newport Harbor, it was also home to the Phil Weld Library, which was consolidated with the IYRS student library.

Since the Museum of Yachting hosts special events and other sporting festivities, it also accepts volunteers who want to work with people from all over the world at one of the prettiest Newport spots.
