Originally constructed as a residential home for the textile and iron manufacturer David Sisson in 1854, the Stone House Inn became a lodging venue in the early days of 20th century. The main house, along with the barn, was remodeled so it could accommodate social functions.

The Stone House Inn initially functioned as a luxury resort. It was a grand inn during the 1920s and 30s, and had a speakeasy in its old tap room. Today, the Stone House Inn continues to function as a luxury inn with two well known restaurants: the 1854, which is in the old tap room, and the Pietra that serves local ?versions? of Tuscan cuisine. They also have a full service spa, providing more comfort and relaxation to visitors.
