Also known as the Anderson Place, Hillcrest Plantation, and the Borough House, the Borough House Plantation is one of the National Historic Landmarks in the state of South Carolina. It is located in the community of Stateburg, in the High Hills of Santee.

The Borough House Plantation traces its history back to 1758 when the original house was built. Ot served as headquarters for both the American and British sides during the American Revolution at different times. Then, in 1820, it was replaced by a new building constructed by William Wallace Anderson.

There are tons of firsts on the Borough House Plantation. For one it is the home to the first tree farm in the state of South Carolina. It was also where the first surgery for removal of the cancer of the jawbone took place in 1829.
