Originally known as the Paul Hamilton House or Edisto Island, the Brick House Ruins is the remnants of the old plantation house in Edisto Island, South Carolina. The structure was built in 1725 for the wealthy planter, Paul Hamilton. It was built with bricks that were imported from Boston, as these were denser and harder than what the locals can produce.

The Brick House Ruins once stood on a 300-acre plantation. It served as the main house until it caught fire in 1929. As its interiors were mostly made with aged lumber, it did accumulate a sizable amount of damage.

Despite falling into ruins, the Brick House Ruins is still declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1970 for its participation in local history and architecture.
