Established in 1770, the College of Charleston is the oldest tertiary education provider in South Carolina, as well as the oldest municipal college in the country. It is also the thirteenth oldest in the whole United States.

Declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1971, the College of Charleston has really given a lot to its community. Aside from being well known for its dedication to undergraduate education (it was even named by the Princeton Review as one of the US? leading institutions for undergraduate studies), it is also popular for its excellent faculty research.
