A park is always a welcome green space in the urban landscape full of glass, concrete and asphalt. The Finlay Park in Columbia, South Carolina offers the weary residents of a space where they can relax and escape the rigors of metropolitan life.

At 14 acres, Finlay Park is the largest and most visited place in downtown Columbia. It opened in 1991 as Sidney Park and was later renamed after former Mayor Kirkman Finlay. This park features a beautiful waterfall cascading beautifully onto a manmade rocky stream, which falls to the park lake. Kids and families can enjoy the quiet ambience of the park where they can use the picnic tables, caf?, benches, or playground. During summer, outdoor movies are played every Friday.

The park plays hosts to numerous city events and festivals, such as the Sizzlin? Summer Concert Series.
