Located nearby the historic Atalaya Castle is the Huntington Beach State Park. The site is basically a small coastal preserve and an established state park in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. It has a large sandy beach with a number of beachgoers, making it a desirable place to go to if you want to spend some time quietly by the beach.

The Huntington Beach State Park’s site used to be a part of the property owned by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington. The lot was donated after Archer’s death, which is where the site got its name. The Atalaya Castle, the couple’s old winter retreat, stands inside the area of the state park.

Popular among birdwatchers, the Huntington Beach State Park also features a Nature Center where folks can learn more about natural history.
