Robert Brewton House Rating: None

Built in 1730, the Robert Brewton House is considered as the earliest accurately dated ?single house? in the city of Charleston, South Carolina. This means that this building is basically designed with its narrow side facing the street (apparently to catch cool breezes), entrance on the side, and with just one room wide.

The Robert Brewton House may lack a number of important single house elements, like a piazza. However, it must be noted that it was built before the piazza became a trend. It did get a porch on both of its two floors, but both were removed later on.

Declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1960, the Robert Brewton House continues to be a source of pride and history in its locality.
