The Sea Pines Resort is the first eco-planned resort destination in the United States. Due to its unique design, it has also became a template for upscale resort communities that later established afterwards.

Established in 1956 by Charles Fraser, a Yale University graduate, the Sea Pines Resort is a very unique tourist destination in the Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Some areas of the site were maintained to be undeveloped and buildings were designed not to go taller than the highest trees in the area. This makes the site cozier and more natural.
