The Adams House was built in 1892 by Anna and Harris Franklin, who were Deadwood pioneers. It was built in the sophisticated Queen Anne-style architecture, helping local press to dub it as the ?grandest house west of the Mississippi.? It was later acquired by the former mayor, W.E. Adams and his wife, Alice, whose name was used for what is now the oldest history museum in Black Hills.

Transformed into a museum in 1998 after being a bed and breakfast, the Adams House is now one of the most popular attractions in Deadwood, South Dakota. After being handled by the City government, it is now under the care of the non-profit Adams Museum & House, Inc.

The Adams House museum is open year round and offers events from time to time.
