The Oscar Howe Art Center is managed by the Oscar Howe Memorial Association and hosted by the USD Foundation. It upholds its main goal of giving much acclaim to the renowned Yanktonais Sioux artist named Oscar Howe. The gallery features majority of his works and the rest of the story of his own history in the place.

The gallery has the core collection enhanced with the help of the monetary donations given by members and guests of the place. The occasional sales that the museum makes also helps a great deal in financing the needs of preserving the place. Now, it is located right in the old building right at the heart of the campus of the University of South Dakota.
