The South Dakota National Guard Museum has a lot of memorabilia items and historical papers which tell of the South Dakota National Guard. Its exhibits are composed of numerous military tools and equipment along with other relics and records that would represent the complete heritage of the Dakota Militia along with the Army and Air National Guard of South Dakota.

The museum has a mission and purpose of preserving the history of its army and presents its contribution towards the many triumphs in various wars and other conflicts. They created the museum to introduce a much greater comprehension on the role played by the state’s National Guard.

They continually support humanitarian missions around the world and always takes part in many search and rescue missions.
