December 23, 1890 became an infamous date in South Dakota as US troops came to massacre almost three hundred members of the Lakota Sioux tribe. This was later known as the Wounded Knee Massacre, hence the museum?s name.

The Wounded Knee Museum presents one of the most thoroughly researched accounts related to the events prior, during, and right after the bloody and tragic incident. At the museum, visitors will find a range of historical artefacts, including but not limited to journals, original photographs, Congressional records, and witness reports.

One unique feature of the museum is its choice of narrative form, which means visitors would somewhat be able to relive those trying times. At the end of the museum, visitors would be able to enter the Remembrance Room, which had been built in honor of the many lives lost in the massacre.
