The Wind Cave National Park is no ordinary wildlife park, considering the fact that one of the lengthiest and most complex cave formations can be found within its property. Add that to the over 28,000 acres of ponderosa pine forests and mixed-grass prairies and you have a natural paradise with both surface and subterranean beauty within your reach.

Be sure to sign up for one of the many types of cave exploration tours offered by the park. You?ll have a better appreciation of the natural wonders you?ll find underground, including but not limited to cave popcorns and box work, the latter of which is a unique formation made of thin honeycomb-shaped calcite fins.

Besides spelunking, visitors may also enjoy horseback riding and hiking trails within the premises of the South Dakota Wind Cave National Park. There are also accommodations available for those who wish to stay or camp overnight.
