The Alex Haley House Museum was originally called as the Palmer House. It is a ten room house set in bungalow style way back between the years of 1918 and 1919. It was created by Will Palmer who is the maternal grandfather of Alex. This was the very home where Alex lived along with his grandparents. This house was listed to be a part of the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The place is visited by numerous researchers, visitors and scholars from around the country and the globe. It is also the very ground where Alex Haley was buried. It has been fully restored to let the original look of the house still remain along with its ancient decorations and antique furniture.
