The Cragfont Museum House illustrates the grandeur and style of the late Georgian period homes. Getting its name from the fact that it stood on a rocky bluff with a spring base, the house makes use of gray rough finished Tennessee limestone. It is owned and named by General Winchester, who came from an aristocratic family. Bringing stone masons, carpenters, and joiners, the Mansion was constructed as a T shaped house.

The Mansion today boasts of its original stenciling, stippling on the parlor mantel, original wood work and flooring, and its kitchen, and a 2nd floor ballroom, which is the first in Tennessee.

Its ballroom is surrounded by galleries on 3 sides. It enables visitors to view the resotred garden and pond as well as the magnificent rolling countryside beyond.
