The Dollywood Theme Park is named after its co-owner, the famous country music artist, Dolly Parton. She became partners with the Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation when they acquired the property in 1986 and decided to rename the place for the fourth time. Dollywood used to be known as the “Rebel Railroad”, first owned by the Robins as a limited attraction that featured a general store, steam train, saloon and blacksmith shop. It then became “Goldrush Junction” in the 70’s , “Goldrush” in 1976, and “Silver Dollar City Tennessee” in 1977 under new owners.

Today, Dollywood is a must-see attraction in Tennessee with its 10 themed areas, some of which are the Rivertown Junction, The Showstreet, The Village, Craftmen’s Valley, Timber Canyon, and Country Fair. The Jukebox Junction features history and culture of Tennessee. Two areas feature Dolly Parton’s Hollywood life and imagination.
