Fort Pillow State Park is the commemorative location of Fort Pillow. This area was built by the Confederate States Army in 861, as the location was very strategic. However, it was immediately seized and captured by Union troops in 1864.

The Battle of Fort Pillow is also a very memorable one. Aside from the fact that the fort has been seized within just a day of fighting, it is also the place where more than 200 out of 262 Union soldiers were killed by the Confederates. Some call it a massacre, while others believe that the numbers were exaggerated.

Today, the Fort Pillow State Park is home to the historic site and museum that looks back at that point in history where hundreds of Confederate and Union soldiers gave their lives to the country.
