Listed as one of the ten most endangered historical sites in the US, Franklin Battlefield used to be a very expansive area in Franklin, Tennessee. It is the very place where the Second Battle of Franklin took place in the later parts of the American Civil War.

Today, when visiting the Franklin Battlefield, folks could easily explore the Carter House and the Carnton Plantation. Both are significant structures that played roles during the battle. The Carter House was the center of the Union position, while the plantation became the biggest field hospital after the said encounter.
