Graceland used to be just a huge white columned house in Memphis, Tennessee until Presley bought it and turned it into his home. Five years after he died in 1977, the house was opened to the community as a museum. Years after, it was registered as a historic place and was recently acknowledged as a National Historic Landmark in 2006.
