Also known as the James K. Polk House, the James K. Polk Ancestral Home is the last surviving residence of the 11th President of the United States, James K. Polk. It was built in 1816 by his father, while he was attending the University of North Carolina.

The James K. Polk Ancestral Home is a relatively modest two-story brick house. It is now open as a museum and features the cast iron fountain that was originally from the Polk Place, or James K. Polk?s mansion in downtown Nashville which was demolished in 1901. Folks can also tour the Sister?s House on the site, which served as the home of two of Polk?s married sisters at different times.

The James K. Polk Ancestral Home is a National Historic Landmark since 1961.
