The Lotz House Civil War Museum was built by Carpenter Albert Lotz in 1858. It became the site for the Battle of Franklin during the Civil War. The house was then turned into a makeshift hospital housing the injured.
Today, the historic house stands as a Museum that offers guided tours that showcase fine antiques and some stories about the Lotz family during the 1864 Battle of Franklin. The Museum?s collection of antiques is considered as the finest private collection that features American Victorian furniture in the Southeast. The Museum also provides its visitors an opportunity to view the material culture of the soldier during the war. The first floor alone contains hundreds of artifacts, some of which are one-of-a-kind.
