The Center for the Arts was established in 1995 and was managed by the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County until a non-profit organization took ownership in 2008. The Center became the home for educational classes, theater plays, art exhibitions, music concerts and dance performances. The construction of the Center started in 1909 by the U.S Department of Treasury and was used as a post office and a library in the past. It was later renovated and converted as a Center. Anthony Cimino became the first executive directory of the Center.

Located at 110 West College in Murfreesboro, the Center for the Arts has several halls for different purposes. For instance, its theater can accommodate up to 150 seats for theater productions and plays. On the other hand, the art gallery is used for photo exhibits, competitions, art leagues, and group shows for local artist. Rentals are also available for any of these rooms with affordable rates. Civic organizations and school districts may reserve these halls through phone or by email. For personal visits, the Center is open from Tuesdays until Saturdays.

Every summer, the Rutherford County Center for the Arts provides classes and camps for theater and art enthusiasts. These sessions are handled by noted instructors, theater coaches, and veterans whom have vast experience in these two fields. Evaluations of the students are done by performing in production plays or by showcasing their artworks in an exhibition event. The most featured theater shows played at the Center are ?To Kill A Mockingbird,? ?Razze Dazze Magic Show,? ?Murderous Crossing,? and a few others.

The Center operates only through funding so donations are encouraged for those who support the Center. Volunteer are also welcomed to help run the building.
