Sgt. Alvin York is one of the most celebrated World War I soldiers. He received the Medal of Honor for his service during the war and became a local celebrity. However, fame never got to his head, as he believed that it is wrong to make money out of an act of war.

The Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park was once the home of this brave soldier. It was actually a farm, which was a gift from the Nashville Rotary Club. It features the Yorks? two-story home, general store, post office, millhouse, the York Bible Institute, Wolf River Cemetery, and the Wolf River Methodist Church to name a few.

The Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
