The Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area is a state park and historic site in Elizabethton, Tennessee. It preserves and protects the Sycamore Shoals of the Watauga River, more commonly known as the Sycamore Shoals.

The Sycamore Shoals is a National Historic Landmark, valued for being the venue of several events that led to the establishment of the states of Kentucky and Tennessee. Basically, this area is a rocky stretch of river rapids along the Watauga River. It was also used by ancient Native Americans back in the day.

Today, the Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area is a day use only park offering opportunities for picnicking and hiking. Tours around the historic park are most popular, though, as well as participation in several special events hosted by the park.
