The Armand Bayou Nature Center is an urban preservation and conservation park located in found Pasadena, California. The ABNC spans 2,500 acres and is considered as the United States? largest urban wilderness preserve with a variety of trails and different types of ecosystems housed within the compound. The facility was named after notable environmentalist Armand Yramategui who fought for the right for the surrounding lands to be turned into an urban preserve. He died in 1970 and was later given the honor when the facility opened in 1974.

The Bayou Nature Center houses several types of venues to help inform visitors both locally and from around the world about the delicate balance of the places that it strives to protect. Housed within the Armand Bayou Nature Center are several species of fauna including two live bisons on display in their natural habitat. Other attractions that should be checked out when visiting the Armand Bayou Nature Center are the prairie platforms and the butterfly gardens located around the compound.

One of the biggest pulls in the Armand Bayou Nature Center is the five different types of ecosystem trails that is proudly conserved and displayed. These ecosystems are not only just ecosystems but also attractions in and on themselves. These five different nature trails are the Prairie trails, the Martyn Trail, the Marsh trail, the Karankawa trail and finally, the Lady Bird trail.

For bird watchers and photographers, the Armand Bayou Nature Center is also an ideal place to spot unique and exotic birds as the center is also situated along the famous ?Central Flyway,? the largest and most expansive migratory bird route in the world.

A total of 370 different species of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds can also be seen in their natural habitat when visiting the facility or taking an educational tour of the locale.
