The Beeville Art Museum, considered as a teaching museum, serves as a school for the arts in various forms mostly focusing on paintings. The museum aims to develop the imaginations of young people by providing a wide array of educational activities and programs. With this, the development of the cultural life of the community is enhanced.

Aside from the educational aspect, visitors are afforded a chance to view the many exhibits of talented artists and various collections from other museums, galleries and private collections from across the state.

A privately funded foundation the Beeville Art Museum is housed in the Esther Barnhart Housed built in 1910 by the R.L. Hodges family. By 1981, the house was the current owner Dr. Joe Barnhart and was renamed after Dr. Barnhart?s mother, while the surroundings of the estate was converted and developed into Community Park for locals to use. The park was subsequently named the Joe Barnhart Park.

Later additions to the areas surrounding the museum include an additional 630 square feet in 2002 which is still being used as classroom space and exhibit area where visitors are afforded a chance to see new works of art done by the myriad of students that have studied in the museum?s sister school.

The Beeville Art Museum not only focuses on the education of children but also aims to help enrich the lives of the local community through the various art programs they offer. A visit to the museum will include tours of the museum and exhibits, as well as an overview on their art classes.
