The Lone Star Flight Museum is an educational museum that began in June 1985 as a private aircraft collection. The collection began to grow as more sets of aircraft were brought in. The need for a bigger home led to the construction of a 50,000 square foot facility that began at Galveston?s Scholes Field. A 30,000 square foot second phase hangar in 1991 then followed. The Museum also started acquiring and displaying aviation memorabilia, develop educational programs, as well as recruit volunteers.

Today, the Museum maintains its national and international reputation of being a top flying museum in the United States. It also has more than 40 historically significant aircraft and more than 1,500 artifacts, which demonstrate the quantum leap in technology over the past century.
