The Mexic-Arte Museum is dedicated to the cultural enrichment and education of traditional and contemporary Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art and culture. Through its presentations, it is able to promote such and become the leading Latino art museum that serves Austin and Central Texas.
The Mexic-Arte Museum was founded by artists Sylvia Orozco, Sam Coronado, and Pio Pulido in 1984 to share Mexico?s art and culture with the communities in Texas. They established it in the Art Warehouse space. In 1988, the museum moved to its present home at Congress Avenue, which is at the heart of Austin?s downtown.
