The Museum of Printing History was founded by Raoul Beasley Vernon P. Hearn, Don Piercy and J. V. Burnham in 1979. It aims to protect and safeguard the history of printing within the area and showcase the printing collection to the community. The museum features printmaking and letterpress workshops, a papermaking shop, and a book bindery. These are operated and maintained by resident artists, volunteers and visiting artists. The museum also highlights a wide array of collections from different printing artists.

The Museum of Printing History has a book store that displays a wide collection of printing books for book enthusiasts and collectors. It is also a haven to those who are book collectors because it sells rare and out of print books as well as regular used stock.

Another highlight of the museum is their antique machinery collections and equipment which are now accessible to the public. Aside from these, the museum also maintains an extensive reference library of books on printing history, including historic publications such as Inland Printer, and art. These collections and exhibits of printing artifacts help retain the history of printing and printmaking as well as publication that became influential up to this day.

Another aim of the museum is to widen the knowledge of its visitors about printing through guided tours and educational programs. Scheduled visits are also encouraged for school field trips, for civic organizations and for historians that continue to seek historical accounts about the printing publication. Also, volunteering is highly encouraged for those who want to immerse about the printing history. Those who become volunteers will have the experience of doing printing publications.

The Museum of Printing History is managed by a non-profit organization and relies on outside funding. The museum opens every Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free for self guided tourists.
