San Jacinto Monument is located in one of the most historical sites in Houston, the San Jacinto Battlefield. It was where the Battle of San Jacinto took place on April 21, 1836, and Texas won its independence from Mexico. Ever since, the location has been a very significant one not just for the residents, but also for the whole American history.

The San Jacinto Monument, which stands 15 feet taller than the Washington Monument, was completed in 1939. It?s now one of the famous landmarks that can be found in Houston. The stature reminds the residents of the site where they gained freedom and independence. At the base of the monument is The San Jacinto Museum of History, where visitors can learn all about the stories that happened exactly on where they are standing.
