Considered as the ?Rose Capital of the Nation?, Tyler, Texas is the venue of the annual Texas Rose Festival. It is a four-day event held every third week of October that honors the success brought by the rose industry in the state?s economy.

It began in 1933 and has soon become a main attraction of Tyler. Locals and peoples within East Texas participate in this yearly event and attract thousands of visitors to the city.

The biggest and most celebrated activity of the Rose Festival is the Rose Parade. It is held on a Saturday and is considered as the opening ceremony of the event. Other features include the parade of the ?Rose Queen? and her court that show off beautiful gowns, an art show, flower arrangement exhibits, and tours of rose fields.
