They say that everything is big in the state of Texas. Look no further than its State Capitol for proof.

The Texas State Capitol embodies Texas pride. It is the current seat of the Texas government, housing the Texas Legislature and the office of the Governor of Texas. This building boasts an Italian Renaissance Revival design. True to Texan standards, the Capitol is the largest of all state capitols next only to the National Capitol in Washington D.C. Completed in 1888, the building rises up to 308 feet, making it the ?seventh largest building in the world? during its construction. The construction was funded via sale of lands, with about 3 million acres of land paid, making it the ?largest barter in history?.

The building was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and into the National Historic Landmark in 1986.
