Located at the center of Austin, Texas for almost a hundred years, the Paramount Theatre used to be the seat of the War Department of Texas and later on became the Avenue Hotel. In 1915, a theatre was opened to the Texas community under the name of ?Majestic Theatre?. But, it was only in 1930 that it was renamed to be the ?Paramount Theatre? after it was renovated into an Art Deco style building. Now, it is known to be the oldest functioning theatre in all of Texas and declared as a state landmark.

The Paramount Theatre was popular back then for staging Vaudeville performances and magic shows by Harry Houdini. For the past years until today, it has evolved from being the Vaudeville stage to more than just a movie palace. Throughout the year, the theatre presents a variety of performances from music, comedy, drama, films, spoken word and shows for kids.
