The Trevino-Uribe Rancho was originally constructed as a simple single-room rancho for Jesus Trevino, right around the time when settlements in the San Ygnacio area in Texas began in the 1830s. It grew over time as more fortifications were created to protect the owner?s family and local villagers from the frequent attacks of the Comanche and Apache Indians.
The current shape of the Trevino-Uribe Rancho can be attributed mostly to the developments that Trevino?s son-in-law, Blas Maria Uribe, has introduced to the site. He added more elaborate structures and buildings to the property.
Listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1998, the Trevino-Uribe Rancho is a very great example of the Mexican vernacular architecture and influence in the San Ygnacio, Texas area and history.
