The Affleck Park is part of the historic district of Dell Canyon, which features an important emigration trail first used in 1846 by a band of pioneers known today as the Donner-Reed party. In the following years (1847 ? 1860) the trail was also used by Mormon pioneers as well as the Pony Express (1860 ? 1861) for faster delivery of correspondence. Prior to this, Native Americans had also used the trail for over a millennium. Trails for nature walks and jogging are provided but users are strictly required to stay only on designated pathsH. Pets and all kinds of domesticated animals are not, however, allowed in the park. Fishing activities are available from July 12 but only when visitors receive the appropriate permits from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Moreover, the state government requires individuals to use only artificial lures and flies and to clean their waders prior to fishing. Fish cleaning and disposal afterwards must also be conducted in the appropriate area to limit or even water pollution. The same rules or concern for the environment also apply to hunting activities.
