Launched on April 2003, the Clark Planetarium is the new planetarium facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will find the Clark Planetarium at the 400 West and 100 South junctions in The Gateway. It took the place of the old Hansen Planetarium. The new planetarium features the Hansen Dome Theater which is known as the first ever pitless dome in America. It is 55 feet high and can accommodate 205 people. It is enhanced with individual seat keypad controls to make for an interactive planetarium experience. Another main feature is the planetarium?s very own full dome animated space science productions. They also have a newly renovated IMAX theater that shows 3D and 2D films about nature, space science and Hollywood movies. Other than the shows, the Clark Planetarium has a 10,000-square-foot hall filled with exhibits, one of which is a computer animated globe called ?Science on a Sphere?.
